Jog Pendant Quick Start
The Carbide 3D Jog pendant allows for fast and precise control over your CNC machine's position. It is a plug-and-play solution with Carbide Motion and has the following features:
- Allows jogging in predefined increments using the jog wheel (rotary encoder).
- Single button jogging by holding down the "Continuous Jog" buttons.
- Feed Hold and Start buttons to control the machine.
- Electronic E-Stop button to stop the machine. (This is software-controlled, so this is not a replacement for the physical E-stop on your machine.)
- Removable USB-C to USB-A cable, you can substitute a different length/type cable if desired.

How to Use
The Jog Pendant must be plugged into a computer running the latest version of Carbide Motion. If your computer does not have a USB-A port, you can use an adapter, or substitute your own USB-C to USB-C cable.
After initializing, open the Jog window in Carbide Motion. Select the axis you want to move on the pendant - the corresponding indicator should illuminate. Rotate the jog wheel (rotary encoder) clockwise for movement in the positive direction, counter-clockwise for negative movement. If you want to jog without cranking the wheel (ex. for longer travels), you may press and hold the continuous jog button.
The speed of jogging can be changed by pressing the Change Jog Speed button. The jog pendant has two speeds, fast and slow. As you approach the limits of the machine's travel, or your workpiece, we recommend using only the slower jogging speed.
The Jog Pendant can also be used while running a gcode program. The Feed Hold button will pause program execution, while the Cycle Start button will start or resume program execution.
In the event of an emergency, the Soft E-Stop button at the top of the controller can be used to reset the controller, which stops both movement and the spindle (if connected). You will need to re-connect and re-initialize your CNC if this is pressed.
Notes:
- The Jog Pendant can only be used with Carbide Motion v6.5x or later.
- If the Jog Pendant is disconnected in the middle of jogging, Carbide Motion will exit Jog mode and return to the home screen.
- The jog wheel moves your CNC in increments that are a multiple of the machine's theoretical resolution. Ie. Ballscrew-equipped machines will be able to jog in finer increments than belt-driven machines.
